Si la Gestalt-thérapie s'inscrit dans une filiation psychanalytique - Fritz et Laura Perls, ses fondateurs, ont d'abord été psychanalystes -, elle repose sur une théorie comme sur une méthode propres. « Gestalt » signifie en allemand forme ou figure, au sens de « prendre forme ». Au-delà, la proposition gestaltiste est une invitation à repenser le rapport de l'homme au monde.
