How to repair dryer not heating

A dryer is just a huge drum that is filled with damp clothes. The drum is turned by a motor with pulleys coupled by a number of belts. To dry the clothes, air heated by a gas heater or an electric heating element is blasted through the drum. The temperature and speed of the drum are controlled by a set of thermostats that are controlled by a timer on the dryer's control panel.
A dryer normally features a door switch that activates the operating sections as a safety feature. The dryer will not operate unless the door is correctly closed, regardless of the settings on the control panel. On the control panel of many dryers, there is a reset button. Allow the dryer to cool for about 10 minutes if the motor won't start. After that, press the reset button. This should restart the dryer if there are no issues with the motor, switches, or electrical system. Make sure the dryer is disconnected before starting any work on it. Remove the grounding wire from the circuit. Close the gas-supply valve to turn off the unit's gas supply if it's a gas-fueled dryer.
The components of the dryer are encased in a sheet metal box, with the exception of the power wire and the exhaust vent. Although each component operates independently of the others, they are all linked in some way. Depending on the manufacturer and type of the machine, there are many ways to remove the cabinet for testing and maintenance. Disassembly techniques are straightforward.
Setscrews may be used to secure knobs to their shafts. Remove the knobs by unscrewing the bolts and pulling them straight out. Only remove the rear panel to have access to the majority of the parts. If you can't do the tests, replacements, or repairs from the rear, don't disassemble the remainder of the cabinet. Remove the light from the dryer if it has burned out. To get to it, you may need to remove holding screws and panels. Replace the burned-out bulb with a new one of the same kind and wattage; this information may be found on the ends of the old bulb. Then, if necessary, replace any retaining panels. Here's how to do it:
Step 1: To remove the rear panel, unscrew the screws or bolts that secure it to the cabinet's top and sides.

Step 2:Pull the lower front panel away from the bottom of the cabinet to remove it. Raise and remove the bottom panel. Under each side of the bottom panel, remove the springs.

Step 3: To remove the top panel, pull it off using a stiff-bladed putty knife wedged beneath the lip of the top. Several spring fasteners at the top of the cabinet sides and front may be released with the aid of the putty knife.
Step 4: Remove the screws that hold the dryer's control panel to the cabinet top or front. These screws may be hidden behind a piece of metal or plastic trim; pull the trim off or unscrew it to reveal the screws. The majority of knobs are friction-fit, so simply pull them straight out.

Remember that while testing or repairing the electrical components of a gas dryer, the dryer is connected to a gas line. Before disconnecting the gas supply line or relocating the dryer, and before completing any electrical work, turn off the cutoff valve on the supply pipe.
