Conclusion: Values Entrenched in the Constitution

The human rightstooltip TIP blue ICON.png in the Bill of Rights (Links to an external site.) in the Constitution have, to a large degree, put South Africa on the road to providing legal foundations that will ensure a school and classroom environment in which effective and quality education can take place. However, the Constitution cannot ensure social responsibility (Links to an external site.) or the changing of the attitudes, assumptions, stereotypes  (Links to an external site.)or prejudices of individuals and groups in education.

The values entrenched in the Bill of Rights must thus be instilled in every educational official, educator, parent and learner. It is therefore important that every individual involved in education should know his or her responsibilities and willingly accept accountability  (Links to an external site.)for the responsibilities assigned to him or her.

Every individual educator should accept responsibility for ensuring quality education and effective teaching and learning for the class or learning areas delegated to him or her. Educators must be accountable to the learners, the parents and their superiors for successful teaching and learning.

Learners must also take responsibility for their own learning, conduct  (Links to an external site.)and deeds (Joubert and Prinsloo, 2009:72 and 243-244).

The values entrenched in the Bill of Rights must thus be instilled in everyone.
