Characteristincs of a productive classroom.

  • A productive classroom can be defined as a place where all learners can learn. It is managed and organised in such a manner that the learners are intellectually  (Links to an external site.)productive and feel safe on an intellectual, emotional and physical level. Learning is central in a tooltip HINT red ICON.pngproductive classroom environment, and the educator employs teaching technologies that are appropriate to the learning area or subject matter he or she teaches. The educator also ensures the intellectual growth of all learners in the classroom (Teachers for a new era: 2006).


  • According to Fuglestad and Lillejord (2002:14), the two dimensions of a productive learning culture consist of cultural values (Links to an external site.) and communication patternstooltip TIP blue ICON.png. Cultural values in this instance reflect the norms of inclusion and acceptance of the appreciation of All communication patterns are all have certain problems with each other. In circle, Chain and Y patterns all group members can’t directly communicate with the group leader (Links to an external site.). They can communicate to leader only through group members. In Wheel, all the group members can communicate directly with the group leader.towards one end, and collectivity and shared responsibility towards the other.

 
  • Sometimes one can experience a tension between concern for the individual and concern for the whole group, but there are no basic contradictions between the two. In fact, appreciation of individuality is an important condition for feeling included in the group, and from that feeling of inclusion  (Links to an external site.)and acceptance follows identification with the group and working towards common goals.
