The underlying principles of the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) (Department of Education 2002:10-13), effected in the Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) , are based on the vision and values entrenched in the Bill of Rights (Links to an external site.), Chapter 2 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
Although the main purpose of this booklet is classroom management and discipline, the clarification of the following related concepts will help you to better understand your teaching tasks according to the criteria of learning space, learner involvement and diversity as contained in IQMS Performance Standard 1.
